Providing integrated primary health care, nutrition and mental health services in existing health facilities and outreach services in northwest Syria. Contribute to the continuity of basic life-saving health and nutrition services to ensure equitable access to people in need and improve service quality through converged primary health care support including integrated mental health activities with nutrition services in pre-existing health facilities and through the outreach team in Northwest Syria.
This project aims to support a comprehensive package of health and nutrition services including primary health care, nutrition and mental health in two health facilities located in northwest Syria and through outreach activities in the surrounding areas. The motive of this project is to continue providing services in the existing and already equipped centers and through trained nutrition teams to the population in the western countryside of Aleppo and rural Idlib with a focus on the most vulnerable people (women, boys, girls, and people of determination) in communication. and referral activities to the higher level of health and nutrition services. The project will consist of three converging components: primary health care, nutrition services, and mental health care services, and its activities will be provided through the following plan:
Health component:
– Comprehensive Primary Health Care Center in Al-Jinah with basic obstetric and neonatal care
The center is located in the western countryside of Aleppo (Aleppo, Jabal Samaan, Atarib, Jinnah), and provides a package of health services according to basic primary health care. These services include: pediatric services, reproductive health services, nutrition activities, management of communicable and non-communicable diseases, provision of essential medicines and medical supplies as well as dental health services. Through the proposed project, Shafak will continue to support the mental health component, which will include services related to diagnosis and management. This component was integrated into the Center last year through trained health workers and private sector workers according to WHO protocols. This center was selected based on Shafak’s needs assessment.
– Primary health care center in Harbnoush The center is located in the countryside of Idlib (Idlib, Ma’arrat_mamsrin, Harbnoush), and it provides a package of health services according to primary health needs. care package; These services include: pediatric services, reproductive health services, nutrition activities, management of communicable and non-communicable diseases, referral services, provision of essential medicines and medical supplies as well as dental health services. Similarly, in this facility, Shafak will continue to provide mental health services.
Nutrition component:
Continuing to provide nutrition activities, referral in the above centers and surrounding areas through outreach teams to ensure continuity and increase coverage of services to treat acute malnutrition among children aged 6-59 months, and to maintain continuity and increased coverage of services to manage acute malnutrition among women Pregnant and lactating women.
Continue to support 6 rapid response teams in Atarib district and 3 in Ma’arrat_mamsrin sub-area to maintain increased provision of life-saving nutrition services in high needs and remote locations by including screening, referral, distribution of micronutrient supplementation, and provision of emergency infant and young child feeding consultations.

1- Improving access to primary health care services in Atarib and Ma’arrat_mamsrin by providing comprehensive primary health services through two primary health care centers (Level 4 Al-Jinah Health Center and Level 2 Harbnoush Health Center) for the displaced and host communities with a focus on pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics Natural in addition to other specialized clinics such as orthopedic, atria and others through visiting doctors with the provision of referral services.
2- Providing advanced, sustainable and integrated psychological support interventions through targeted centers in addition to mobile teams
3- Ensure continuity and increased coverage of food services to prevent and treat acute malnutrition among children aged 6-59 months and pregnant and lactating women in the proposed health facilities and through rapid response teams.
